Lesson 116 · 2 min
Your chats and AI training settings
Many AI apps can use your conversations to improve future models, and you can usually turn that off in a minute.

When you chat with an AI tool, the company stores your messages. Depending on the tool and the type of account, those chats may be kept for a while, checked by staff for safety, or used as training data.
Most popular chatbots have a privacy or data section in their settings. Look for an option about using your content to improve the model, and for a way to delete your history.
Some tools also offer a temporary or private chat mode that is not saved to your history. Work and school accounts often have stricter rules already, set by your organisation.
Turning training off does not make a chatbot a safe place for passwords or ID numbers. It only reduces where your words travel, so keep removing private details before you paste.

Check your settings now
- 1. Open the AI app you use most and go to Settings.
- 2. Find the privacy or data controls and read what each switch does.
- 3. Turn off training on your chats if you prefer, and delete old chats that held personal details.
