Build your own prompt library

Save the prompts that worked, with blanks to fill in, and you stop starting from zero every day.

Most people type a fresh prompt every time, even for jobs they do every week. When a prompt gives a great result, that is worth keeping.

Keep a simple note or document. For each prompt, write a short name, what it is for, and the prompt with [BLANKS] for the parts that change: [CUSTOMER NAME], [PASTE NOTES], [TONE].

Improve them as you go. When you have to fix the same thing in the answer twice, add a line to the saved prompt so you never fix it again.

Ten good prompts cover most of a normal week: replying to emails, summarising meetings, planning a day, explaining something to a child. Start with the three jobs you repeat most.

Do it now

Save your first three

  1. 1. Open a notes app and make a page called "My prompts".
  2. 2. Write down the three tasks you most often ask AI for.
  3. 3. Use the prompt below to turn each one into a reusable template, then save it.
Here is a prompt I use often: [PASTE YOUR PROMPT].
Turn it into a reusable template.
Replace the parts that change each time with [BLANKS IN CAPITALS], add any instruction that would make the answer more reliable, and keep it under 80 words.
