Lesson 287 · 2 min
Convert a recipe
AI can rescale a recipe and turn cups and Fahrenheit into grams and Celsius, as long as you check the numbers.

Recipes from foreign sites use cups, ounces and Fahrenheit, and they are often written for a different number of people. Converting by hand is slow and easy to get wrong.
A chatbot can do it in seconds: double a cake for a party, cut a soup for two, or turn "1 cup flour, 350°F" into grams and Celsius. Ask for a table with the old and new amounts side by side.
It still makes maths slips, and a cup of flour does not weigh the same as a cup of sugar. A wrong number in baking can ruin the result, so check a few amounts with a calculator or a kitchen scale.
Some things do not scale neatly. Baking times, pan sizes and salt often need adjusting by taste and by eye, so ask AI for notes on those too.

Rescale a recipe
- 1. Copy a recipe you want to try.
- 2. Paste it with the prompt below.
- 3. Check two or three amounts yourself before you start.
Convert this recipe to metric (grams, ml, °C) and scale it from [X] to [Y] servings. Show a table with the original amount, the converted amount and the scaled amount. Note any step, like baking time or pan size, that will not scale exactly. Recipe: [paste]
