Lesson 89 · 2 min
Homework: learning or copying?
Using AI on homework is fine when it helps you understand, and harmful when it does the thinking the homework was meant to build.

Homework exists to practise. If AI writes the answer, the page is finished but the practice never happened, and the exam will show it.
A simple test: could you explain this answer and do a similar one tomorrow without AI? If yes, AI helped you learn. If no, it did your homework for you.
Good uses: explaining a concept in simpler words, giving a similar practice problem, checking your finished work and pointing at mistakes, quizzing you before a test. Risky uses: pasting the question and copying the reply.
Follow your school's rules. Some teachers allow AI for some tasks and not others. When unsure, ask, and say how you used it. Being open protects you.

The explain-it-tomorrow test
- 1. Take a homework question you already finished with or without AI.
- 2. Close the chat and explain the answer out loud or on paper.
- 3. If you get stuck, use the prompt below to learn the part you could not explain.
I am studying [SUBJECT, GRADE]. I understand part of this but not all: [PASTE QUESTION AND YOUR ANSWER]. Do not redo it for me. Tell me which step I seem not to understand, explain that idea simply, and give me one similar question to try on my own.
