Lesson 282 · 3 min
Cut the electricity bill
Give AI a photo of your power bill and a list of your appliances, and it can show you where the money goes and what to change first.

Household electricity in Vietnam is priced in tiers: the more kWh you use in a month, the more each extra kWh costs. So a hot month with the air conditioner running every night can push a bill up much faster than you expect.
A chatbot that reads photos can pull the numbers off your bill for you: how many kWh you used, how that compares with last month, and roughly how much fell into the higher tiers. You do not need to type anything in.
Then list your big appliances with their power rating and how many hours a day you use them. Air conditioners, water heaters, fridges and rice cookers on keep-warm all day are the usual suspects. AI can rank them and suggest changes, such as setting the air conditioner a couple of degrees warmer or using a fan alongside it.
Check its maths with a calculator, and check prices against the tariff your power company publishes, since AI may have old numbers. The estimate only needs to be roughly right to tell you which habit to change first.
Do it now
Find your top three power users
- 1. Take a clear photo of your latest electricity bill.
- 2. Write down your big appliances, their watts (on the label) and the hours you use each per day.
- 3. Send both to a chatbot with the prompt below.
- 4. Pick one change, try it for a month, and compare the next bill.
Here is a photo of my household electricity bill in Vietnam and a list of my appliances with watts and hours per day. Read the kWh used from the bill. Estimate the monthly kWh for each appliance, rank them from highest to lowest, and suggest three practical changes that would cut the most. Show your working so I can check it, and do not quote tariff prices unless you say they may be out of date. Appliances: [list]
