Will AI take my job?

AI is more likely to change your tasks than remove your whole job, and people who use it well have the advantage.

Jobs are bundles of tasks. AI is good at some: drafting, summarising, sorting, translating, basic analysis. It is weaker at others: building trust, physical work, judgement in messy situations, and taking responsibility.

Some roles will shrink, especially ones made mostly of routine writing or data entry. New tasks are also appearing: checking AI work, designing workflows, teaching others.

The change is uneven across countries and industries, and nobody can predict it exactly. Be wary of anyone who is very sure, in either direction.

The practical move is the same everywhere: find which of your tasks AI can help with, get good at it, and spend the saved time on the human parts.

Map your own job

  1. 1.List the 8 to 10 tasks that fill your week.
  2. 2.Use the prompt below to sort them.
  3. 3.Pick one task from the "AI can help" list and try it this week.
I work as [JOB] in [COUNTRY / INDUSTRY]. My weekly tasks are: [LIST]. Sort them into: AI can do most of it, AI can help me, mostly human. For each, give one line of reasoning and one practical first step.
Which task is AI currently least likely to replace?
