Homework with AI, the helpful way
A chatbot can be a patient tutor for your child, as long as it is set up to give hints instead of finished answers.

Picture a Grade 6 student stuck on a fractions problem at 9pm. A chatbot will happily solve it in two seconds. The page gets filled in, and your child learns nothing, which shows up later in the test at school.
The same chatbot can act like a tutor. If you tell it to ask questions, give one hint at a time and wait for your child to try, it slows down and walks through the idea step by step.
Sit nearby for the first few sessions. Watch whether your child is thinking or just copying. A good sign is when they can explain the answer back to you in their own words.
Check your child's school rules too. Some teachers welcome AI for practice and ban it for graded work. When in doubt, ask the teacher.

- 2. Add one homework question your child is stuck on.
- 3. Let your child type their own attempts. Step in only if the chatbot starts giving full answers.
- 4. At the end, ask your child to explain the solution to you.
