Lesson 106 · 2 min
Teachers: one lesson, many levels
AI can rewrite one text or task at several levels, so every student in a mixed class works on the same idea at the right difficulty.

In most classes some students race ahead and others need more support. Making three versions of every worksheet by hand is rarely possible.
Ask AI to adapt your material. "Rewrite this reading at three levels: simpler words and shorter sentences, the original level, and a harder version with one extra question." Keep the same core idea, so the whole class can discuss it together.
Ask for supports too: a word bank, sentence starters, a worked example. And for stretch tasks: an open question, a comparison, a mini project.
Avoid labelling groups in front of students. Use colours or letters, and let students move between levels. Check each version for accuracy, since simplifying can drop or change a key fact.

Three levels from one text
- 1. Take a short reading or task you use in class.
- 2. Paste it into the prompt below.
- 3. Check that all three versions keep the same main fact or idea.
Here is a reading for grade [GRADE]: [PASTE]. Rewrite it at 3 levels: A: simpler words, short sentences, plus a 5 word word bank. B: close to the original. C: a little harder, plus one open-ended question. Keep the same key facts in all three and list them at the end so I can check.

- Prompt
- The instruction or question you give an AI. Clearer prompts with context usually get much better answers.
- Human in the loop
- Designing a process so a person reviews or approves the AI's work before it has real consequences.
