Slides from an outline
Write the story of your talk as a short outline first, then let AI turn each point into a slide with a title and a few lines.

Bad slide decks usually start in the slide tool, with someone filling boxes. Good ones start with a plain outline: what the audience needs to understand, in what order, and what you want them to do at the end.
Once you have five to ten points, ask a chatbot to turn each one into a slide: a title that states the point as a full sentence, two to four short lines, and a suggestion for a chart or picture.
Some tools can now build the slide file for you. Even then, check the numbers, cut the extra words and replace generic images with your own charts or photos.
A useful test: read only the slide titles in order. If they tell the whole story, the deck works.
Do it now
Draft a five-slide deck
- 1. Write five bullet points for a short update you need to give.
- 2. Use the prompt below to turn them into slide drafts.
- 3. Read just the titles in order and fix any that do not carry the story.
Here is my outline for a 5-minute talk to [AUDIENCE]: [PASTE 5 POINTS]. Turn each point into one slide: a title written as a full sentence that states the point, 2 to 4 short lines under it, and one idea for a chart or image. Do not add facts I did not give you.

- Generative AI
- AI that produces new text, images, audio, video or code, rather than only sorting or scoring existing things.
- Prompt
- The instruction or question you give an AI. Clearer prompts with context usually get much better answers.
