Lesson 196 · 2 min

Weekly reports in ten minutes

Keep quick notes through the week, then have AI turn them into a short report with results, problems and next steps.

Weekly reports eat Friday afternoons because people try to remember the whole week at once. The fix starts on Monday: jot one or two lines each day in a note, even rough ones.

On Friday, paste the notes into a chatbot with a fixed template: done this week, numbers that moved, problems and the help you need, plan for next week. Ask it to keep your own words where possible.

Lead with results your manager cares about. "Shipped 3 of 4 orders on time" says more than "worked on orders".

Read it once before sending. AI likes to make things sound better than they were, and a report that hides a problem causes bigger trouble later.

Do it now

Set up your report template

  1. 1. Start a note today called "This week" and add one line at the end of each day.
  2. 2. On Friday, run the prompt below on those notes.
  3. 3. Check that every problem you noted is still in the report.
Turn my daily notes into a weekly report for my manager. Sections: Done (with numbers where I gave them), Problems and help needed, Next week. Under 200 words. Keep my wording where you can, do not make anything sound better than my notes say, and do not invent numbers.
