How AI changes jobs, honestly
AI changes the tasks inside most jobs, removes some roles, creates others, and the speed varies a lot by industry.
01 · The idea
Headlines swing between "AI will take all jobs" and "nothing will change". The evidence so far sits in between and is still unclear in many areas.
In most jobs, AI first changes the mix of tasks. A customer service agent might spend less time typing replies and more time on difficult cases. An accountant might spend less time entering data and more on advising.
Some roles do shrink, especially ones made mostly of routine screen work. New work also appears: people who set up, check and manage AI tools, and roles nobody has named yet. History shows similar patterns with computers and the internet, though the details are never the same.
What you can control: learn to use AI well in your own field, strengthen the parts of your job that need judgement and people, and keep an eye on how your industry is changing.
